Hello Makers!  These weeks have been flying by so it's nice to have an excuse to sit down for a few hours and admire all the amazing projects you crazy makers are putting out there!  There is never a shortage of cool things to share and I love seeing all the hard work and dedication that you all put into your craft. News Two very exciting pattern releases this week!  Lauren Dahl from Baste & Gather released the much anticipated Birkin Flares, and they already have quite the following amongst the pattern testers. Kate Top by Tessuti Patterns - Sewing by Helen's Closet
Posted by Helen | 08/12/2015 | Into My Closet

Sometimes it’s fun to make summer clothes in the winter, just so you can dream of those warm days when you’ll be wearing them again!  It can be difficult to resist all the summer indie patterns from Australia, and I totally caved when I saw the new Kate Top from Tessuti patterns.       I’ve been wanting to get a basic tank top pattern for a while, and I eventually went for the Kate because it has both high and low neckline options, and I love the way the bottom of the tank is finished with the side split...

Posted by Helen | 07/12/2015 | Granger Bag Sewalong

Day three already!  Today is exciting because our bags are really going to take shape with these steps.  You will need your pins, scissors, iron, sewing machine, and measuring tape for today.  I also recommend having a well lit space to work, because the tab portion of the next steps requires a good light source. Bethioua Sweater by Elle Puls - Made by Helen's Closet
Posted by Helen | 04/12/2015 | Into My Closet

I am really excited about the Indie Sew winter collection this year!  It is the first bundle I’ve purchased from them and I am super stoked  to make all three pieces.  First up we have the Bethioua sweater from Elle Puls. This sweater features a raglan batwing sleeve and a very cool back yoke detail.  I love the drapey fit of this sweater, making it perfect for thinner knits.  The fabric is slightly see-through, but in these shots I actually can’t see my tank top underneath so... yay!       When I was cutting out the Bethioua I had...
