Helen's Closet Wednesday Weekly
Posted by Helen | 30/03/2016 | Wednesday Weekly

Apologies for skipping a Wednesday last week, I was sick with a cold and had to choose between finishing my Almada Robe so I could lounge around in it, or typing up the Wednesday Weekly. We all know what won that battle.  As a result, I have an extra jam-packed WW for you all, hope you enjoy! News Sew DIY released the Nita Wrap Skirt and it is definitely a must-make for this season.  Check out this awesome tester roundup for inspiration. Seamwork Almada Robe by Helen's Closet
Posted by Helen | 28/03/2016 | Into My Closet

I look forward to Seamwork magazine each month, particularly because of the two patterns that are provided with each subscription.  The magazine itself is free to read, so you if you haven't yet, you should check it out!  Each month, the magazine has a theme and the patterns go along with that theme.  As a subscriber, you get two credits to use on the current issue's patterns or any patterns from past issues.  Check out the pattern library here.  So far, I have made the Reno and Dakota swimsuit, Kenedy dress (not blogged yet), and this Almada Robe.     ...

Grainline Studio Driftless Cardigan by Helen's Closet
Posted by Helen | 21/03/2016 | Into My Closet

I've said it before and I will say it again - I love Grainline Studio Patterns.  For me, it is a combination of great patterns that go well together and build a very wearable wardrobe, unique design details, and impeccable drafting.  So far, I have made the Alder, Archer, Cascade, Lark, and now their latest pattern, the Driftless Cardigan.  I do intend to make them all, right down to the cute little Stowe bag. Wool Sewaholic Hollyburn Skirt by Helen's Closet
Posted by Helen | 14/03/2016 | Into My Closet

I finally got around to making another Hollyburn!  You know when you finish a new project and you say “I am definitely going to make this again”, but then other projects take priority and you don’t get the chance to re-visit it right away? This is almost always the case for me, and it is nice to come back around the Hollyburn because it was the first thing I made for the blog.  For my previous Hollyburn, I made the longest view because I liked the dramatic look.  It rarely gets worn because it is so long, and I have been...
