It was a busy week this week!  I got to celebrate my 28th birthday with my friends and they got me gift certificates to my favourite little fabric shop (they know me well) and I splurged on some new patterns for spring.  I got the Sewaholic Saltspring dress, because it is so pretty and I am dying to make a camisole hack like this one here.  I also got the Grainline Maritime shorts because, well, summer = shorts, and if I am going to continue avoiding RTW I'm going to have to make some!  I also picked up the Deer...

DIY Yoga Pants by Helen's Closet
Posted by Helen | 15/04/2016 | Into My Closet

Are you guys getting sick of me talking about my serger yet?  It is really exciting to take my sewing to the next level and feel able to create quality garments with ease.  I knew when I got my Juki I would want to try making something using only the serger, so I grabbed some stretch material at my local fabric store to make a pair of yoga pants. The temperature hit 22 degrees celcius in Vancouver last week!  That is 71.6 degrees fahrenheit for y'all.  I spent last weekend cleaning off my balcony and planting my container garden.  I am also in full warm weather sewing mode, finally getting a chance to use all those bright colours and spring florals I picked up over the past 6 months.  How are things where you are?  Are you still enjoying your winter makes?  Are you committing 100% to your rain-boots?  Are you also experiencing unusually warm weather?  I hope so, it is pretty magical here these days 🙂 News Blankslate...

I have wanted to make this pattern for a while now to see what all the fuss is about, but the price tag is pretty steep at almost $20 Canadian....

Howdy makers!  It has been a very exciting week for me because I just got my very own Serger!  I went with the Juki MO654de and you can expect a full overview of the machine along with 2 cents about beginner sergers in the next week.  Needless to say it has already changed my sewing and I am really thrilled about all the possibilities moving forward.  I am one lucky girl to have gotten my Juki as a Birthday present from my parents - thank you both so much!!! Makes       I was so inspired by this project from Grosgrain...
