refashioners 2017
Posted by Helen | 30/10/2017 | Into My Closet

I am a little hesitant to share this refashion because it is VERY simple and I don't want to be presenting this coat as my own make since I only changed a few things. That being said, I do believe that even simple refashions count and I did chat about my project on the Love to Sew Podcast, so I have to share, right? 🙂  This is my entry into the Refashioners 2017 Challenge. I went to the local charity shop to source a suit for this challenge, but I ended up finding a men's coat. I loved the style of this...

Wednesday Weekly
Posted by Helen | 25/10/2017 | Wednesday Weekly

Happy Wednesday, makers! It's been two weeks since the last Wednesday Weekly, and I usually try not to skip them, but this time I decided to let it go. Caroline and I were in NYC and we had such an amazing time at camp and hanging out in Brooklyn! We came home feeling so inspired and full of love for the community. We promise a camp-focused podcast episode is coming your way soon! On another note, there were some really amazing pattern releases and makes these past two weeks. Check out how pretty the releases all look together - I love when...

Sleeveless Appleton Wrap Dress
Posted by Helen | 23/10/2017 | Into My Closet

Since interviewing Jenny on the Love to Sew Podcast I knew I needed to give Cashmerette Patterns a try, and what better place to start than with her first pattern, the Appleton Wrap Dress! I have loved every version of this dress I have seen and I was pretty confident that it would suit my figure quite well. The fitted silhouette is a little out of my comfort zone, but I feel like 1 million bucks in it. The Appleton dress has cup sizing (as do all Cashmerette patterns), so you can get a great fit around the bust without...

Deer and Doe Lupin Jacket
Posted by Helen | 16/10/2017 | Into My Closet

This pattern has been sitting in my pattern stash for about a year and I am so excited to finally have sewn it up! This is the Lupin Jacket from Deer & Doe and it is my first time working with a D&D pattern! I fell in love with the sporty design of this jacket when I first saw it and I decided to make it in a tencel twill to showcase the drape of the front lapels. I really like how it turned out and it has been getting a lot of wear this fall season! Since I chose to...

Wednesday Weekly #105
Posted by Helen | 11/10/2017 | Wednesday Weekly

Happy Wednesday, makers! This week I am frantically trying to get some things together before my trip back to Camp Workroom Social! I can't wait to go this year, especially since Caroline is coming with me this time. We are going to spend a few days in Brooklyn, too, so if you have recommendations for good places to eat and shop, let me know! Since I will be away next week there won't be a Wednesday Weekly on the 18th. I was toying with the idea of putting it together while traveling but ultimately decided to take a break. We...

Alina Design Co Hampton Jacket
Posted by Helen | 09/10/2017 | Into My Closet

When Alina asked me if I wanted to join in the Hampton Jean Jacket tour I had to say yes! I have mentioned wanting to make this project on the podcast, so I it felt like the perfect opportunity to finally get going. I do tend to make things happen if there is a deadline, and I also love a good challenge. Alina mentioned that some of the other ladies on the tour were modifying the jacket in different ways and getting creative with the project, so of course, I wanted to get on board with that! I am first in this week's...
