Ultimate Sweatsuit (Hudson and Linden)

Ultimate Sweatsuit (Hudson and Linden)

Well, it is that time of year folks! It has been raining for what feels like 2 weeks straight and I am stuck inside my poorly lit apartment for my blog photos. Luckily, this week I have something to share that I only wear at home and it has been my work uniform since I made it a few weeks ago. I am trying to embrace my desire to wear comfy things while working from home and not getting down on myself about looking put together or ‘dressing for work’. I work hard no matter what I’m wearing so if it’s cold and rainy outside, there should be no shame in bundling up in the ultimate sweatsuit!

This sweatsuit is made from the True Bias Hudson Pants and the Grainline Linden Sweater. I have made adjustments to both patterns to achieve this look, so I will go through those in this post. The grey fabric used is a jogging fleece that is quite thick and soft and cozy on the inside. I was a little worried it would be too thick, but I actually love how it turned out! The black accents are made from sweatshirt ribbing and the black sleeves are Black bamboo french terry.

I squeezed this Linden out of the leftovers from my Hudsons so I improvised a bit by shortening the body of the already slightly cropped view of this pattern. It is quite short, but with the Hudsons sitting high it looks really cute. I found it hard to avoid wavy seams with this jogging fleece and rib knit so I am living with the results. This is my home wear anyways!

For the Hudons, I went up a size for a larger fit and I let out the legs a bit at the bottom for a more classic sweatpant look. I knew I would need more room because of the thick fabric I chose, and I really didn’t want these to be tight. They are loose and cozy and super nice to throw on when it’s cold!

Hi from a new blog follower/podcast listener. I have been making Linden after Linden this fall & they have become my winter wardrobe go to! I want to try the Hudson pants, they are on my list. Happy to have found you!

Hi Ellyn! Thanks for following along with me! The Linden is such a great classic piece, and it looks so different in different knits! I love it 🙂

I love your home-work outfit and I do the same (minus the guilt though 😉 ) Because my place is quite warm (I live in a 55+ building in Victoria where at 63, I’m one of the “kids” in the building so they tend to keep this place REALLY warm) I typically am running around in a tank and capris 🙂 I’m on a mission to make myself some really NICE silk knit undershirts (I know; REALLY for Victoria??) and I was wracking my brain for the right pattern to use when this morning the Sewcialists’ post pointed to the Linden for the TNT GOLDEN girl 🙂 I’m going to put that pattern to work as soon as my silk arrives from Dharma Trading. That should keep me busy for a while 🙂

Oh my goodness, I dream of wearing a tank and capris in the winter in my apartment! My partner would never agree to have it that warm though, but that is OK – I am happy to bundle up, too! Your silk projects sound divine!

The gray and black combination is lovely! That is some really nice loungewear!

Thanks so much, Vanessa!

This is fabulous – love, love, love it. This is something I would live in.

Thanks Tomasa!

I’ve been working from home this last 18 monyhs and I have exactly the same guilt! It’s easy in the summer to dress a bit more ‘attractively’ but last winter I was in baggy cardigans and jogging bottoms and felt a mess. I’ve been sewing up a stack of hudson and blackwood cardigans and feel sure I will be a bit happier this winter whilst still being totally comfy and warm. Love the colour combo of your outfit.

Thank you! It’s nice to hear that I’m not alone in my winter cozys 🙂

I love the black/grey combo! And the short sleeves are really cute.
I have the Hudson pants on my 2018 list – just nervous as I would need to grade up a few inches from the largest size, and pants are scary!

Thanks Emily! Pants don’t have to be scary, the Hudsons are a great place to start!

I love this look !!! The 2 fabrics and the adaptations 🙂 I need to made me a linden !! (I love my hudson pants ;-))
